As you approach Cape Breton Island, by passing over the Canso Causeway, you are immediately directed North towards the Cabot Trail on the Trans Canada Hwy #105 [at the 'rotary']. Simply follow this highway for about 45 kilometres [26 miles or so] until you approach the small town of Whycocomagh. In the center of the town, on your left, is an 'IRVING' gas station [overhead you will see an amber flashing light, highlighting this junction] EXIT # 5. Slipping into the left lane here, and turning off the 105 for a distance of less than 200yds. will bring you to the entrance [also on your left] of 'GLENVIEW CAMPGROUND'. WE ARE THE FIRST CAMPGROUND THAT YOU WILL COME TO ON ROUTE TO THE 'CABOT TRAIL' AND THE LAST AS YOU LEAVE 'CAPE BRETON' ON THE 105.... By the way, stopping to the right of the 'rotary' just after you cross the causeway bridge, will bring you to the Cape Breton Tourist Center where there is usually adequate parking and information to be obtained, together with a Gift Shop but if you miss it much of the information is available at our reception. |
The bridge at the Canso Causeway is the gateway to 'The Island of Cape Breton ' |
